This notice describes what Know Something Labs collects on these pages. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

What we collect

If you join the wait list

On our home page you can tell us which subject areas you know something about and leave an email address. We keep the address, the areas you picked, anything you typed in the "something else" box, and how you arrived. We use the areas in aggregate to decide which pages to open next, and the address only to tell you when one of those pages opens. We do not sell it, we do not send a newsletter, and you can ask us to delete it at any time using the address below.

If you pick some areas and then leave without giving an email, we keep the areas on their own so that we can still count what people are interested in. That record has no email address, no name and no identifier for you or your device, and there is no way for us to connect it back to you.

What we do not require

You never need an account, an email address, or your real name to contribute to a topic page. The wait list is entirely separate and entirely optional. Do not include information in a submission that you do not want us to hold.

How contributions are handled

What you post appears on the topic page immediately. We moderate afterwards: a contribution may be edited for clarity or removed, and we keep removed submissions in our internal records. Because publication is immediate, please do not submit anything you would not want to appear on the page as written.

Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We use service providers to run this site — hosting (Vercel), database (Neon), and analytics (PostHog) — who process data on our behalf. Where we advertise, we tell the advertising platform (Google and Reddit) that a contribution or a wait list signup happened, so that we can measure which campaigns work. We send the fact that it happened and nothing else: not the text of what you wrote, not the areas you picked, and not your email address.

Your requests

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. If a page mentions you and you want that addressed, write to us and a person will respond. Contact reporting@knowsomething.co.

Cookies

We set one small cookie of our own when you first contribute. It holds a random token that links your posts to the handle you were given, so your contributions stay yours across visits. It carries no name, email, or advertising identifier, and clearing it simply gives you a new handle next time.

These pages also load measurement code from Google and from Reddit. It loads for everyone, not only for people who arrived from an advertisement, and each one sets its own cookies and records that the page was visited. If you then contribute or join the wait list, we tell them that it happened so we can see which campaigns reach people worth reaching.

What we do not do: we do not send them the text of what you wrote, the areas you picked, or your email address, and we have turned off ad personalization and remarketing, so you will not be followed around the web with advertising because of what you read here.
